Relishing the last precious moments of New York (for now). Strolling the SoHo streets is one of my favourite ways to spend my days. In a little over a week I’ll be back on our little Emerald Isle, and though I can’t say I’m too happy about leaving New York, I am excited to catch up with my friends and family back at home. This entire summer has been such an incredible experience for me, and I am so glad I decided to take advantage of my last opportunity to do a J1. New York will always, always hold a special place in my heart and I’m already so excited to get planning my next visit over. Making new friends, discovering new places, jumping on board every opportunity, experiencing everything this city has to offer, this summer has definitely not dissapointed! As some of you may know I spent the summer in New York two years ago as well. That was such a different experience for me for many reasons. I was with a group of my closest girl friends which was so amazing. We had some of the funniest times we’ve ever had and we all became closer than ever. This time was a lot different as even though I was surrounded by friends everyday, I spent most of my summer living alone and not with the security of knowing you’re coming home to a friend (or 5!) every night. The independence I gained over here was second to none and I really feel like I’ve grown up a lot and changed as a person. This summer marked a transition period in my life when I finally finished my four year degree course with results I’m extremely proud of . New York was the perfect stepping stone before the next stage. Although I am sad that this trip is coming to an end, it makes me look forward to seeing what the next chapter of my life will bring. Things are only really beginning for me and I couldn’t be more excited!
