Independent Style

With the unpredictable spring weather we’ve been having I thought for one of the outfits in my Independent Style feature I would go for an outfit that is semi-transitional for spring wear. This outfit works best for those days when it’s summer in the sun and winter in the shade which ultimately leads to you being far too warm or shivering with the cold. Here’s my version of a happy medium, layering up on knits on your top half is an easy way to wear less on the bottom. You still get the warmth from the jumpers which allows you to wear certain lower half garments that have been carefully stored all winter waiting for warmer days… Enter: The Trusty Culottes. I’ve had this Topshop pair since they hit stores last year along with my black scuba pair, also from Topshop (see here and here). I wore them all through summer and now finally I’m getting a chance to wear them again. Even though the holy gospel according to Man Repeller may say cropped trousers are going out, my devotion to these will not falter. (Although I’m also an advocate of the new silhouette which they proffer as this seasons go-to shape.) As you can probably tell if you follow my Instagram I have a slight obsession with trousers, especially those of the cropped variation and this obsession is one which is set to continue in my sartorial endeavours time and time again.
